Jesus came to seek us, seeing us as lost sheep:
"For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."
--- Luke 19:10
Jesus came to fulfill scripture:
Anything God says in His word through His prophets must happen. Scripture must be fulfilled.
"This must take place"
appear in
Matthew 24:6, Luke 21:9, and Mark 13:7
"Do not think that I came to do away with or undo the Law [of Moses] or the [writings of the] Prophets; I did not come to destroy but to fulfill." [Amplified version]
--- Matthew 5:17
Jesus came as our physician to heal us and make us righteous in the eyes of a Holy God.
"And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners."
--- Mark 2:17
Jesus came as a pattern for us as a suffering servant to give His life for us:
"For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
--- Mark 10:45
Jesus came to set us free from the bondage of sin and give us favor:
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor."
Luke 4:18-19
Jesus came to initiate judgement upon the earth(by dying on the cross) that He will finalize (by His
wrath) after His 2000 years of patiently waiting for those on the earth to repent:
"I have come to cast fire (judgment) on the earth; and how I wish that it were already kindled!"
--- Luke 12:49
Jesus came (first coming)to save not to judge(second coming):
"For God did not send the Son into the world to judge and condemn the world [that is, to initiate the final judgment of the world], but that the world might be saved through Him." [Amplified version]
--- John 3:17
Jesus came to begin separating the goats from the sheep, the wheat from the tares which He will
finalize in the end times:
"Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division [between believers and unbelievers];" [amplified version]
--- Luke 12:51
Jesus came to bring eternal life:
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly."
--- John 10:10
Jesus came to bring light into the world darkened by sin.
"I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes and trusts in Me [as Savior—all those who anchor their hope in Me and rely on the truth of My message] will not continue to live in darkness." [Amplified version]
--- John 12:46
Jesus came to bring truth overcoming the lies of Satan:
"Then Pilate said to him, 'So you are a king?' Jesus answered, 'You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.'"
--- John 18:37
Jesus came to die on the cross for our sins:
"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed."
--- 1 Peter 2:24
Jesus came to reveal God's love for us:
"but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
--- Romans 5:8
And all the reasons for His coming can be summed up by:
"For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me."
--- John 6:38
"I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me."
--- John 5:30 NKJV
Jesus came to do the will of the Father, the very thing we should be doing.
To fulfill scripture:
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished."
--- Matthew 5:17-18
For Israel to repent for rejecting Him:
"For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.'" --- Matthew 23:39
For mankind to repent:
"...not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance."
-- 2 Peter 3:9
To prepare a place for His followers:
"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also." --- John 14:3
(I believe part of this involves getting heaven ready by casting Satan out of heaven
(Revelation 12:7-9)
which happens at the midpoint of the tribulation and is the central event of the book of Revelation.)

Jesus is coming back after 2000 years (2 days), in the "last days" to complete this plan of salvation by judging the living and the dead, establishing a new heaven and a new earth, and ultimately bringing about the final victory over evil, fulfilling prophecies and ushering in a reign of righteousness and peace on earth.
